Richie's opinion :

" I was here with a friend of mine, more precisely in the Stoke Park, which we often went  next to the park by car to work, so he was curious about the park (me too ..).

We saw the tower from the Park, so we climbed to the hill - it was a little steep, but it wasn’t dangerous.

The view of the City and Stoke Park is simply stunning, I can recommend a visit.."

About Purdown BT tower

A microwave transmission tower, Purdown BT Tower, is located at Lockleaze and is known locally as the "Cups and Saucers".

The distinctive tower, built in 1970, can be seen from many miles away.

During World War II, an anti-aircraft gun emplacement, known locally as Purdown Purcy, was located on the down, the ruins of which remain today.

It is a prominent landmark, added as a Valued Landmark by Bristol City Council, visible from much of the city, used mainly for point-to-point microwave links and forms part of the British Telecom microwave network.

It is one of twelve reinforced concrete towers owned by BT in the UK and one of the few communication towers built of reinforced concrete.
